What better high school graduation gift could there be then a trip to Europe with your grandparents. In January 2019 we took an amazing trip to Spain with our grandson Aiden. As he was still in school we did not have unlimited time to spend and had to keep things tight. We flew in and out of Madrid and spent all our time touring in the Andalusia region. Even though it was January the weather was fairly mild and as a bonus we did not encounter crowds at any of the sites. Unless your going for some beach time or just crave the heat, we highly recommend this off-season timing to others.
First stop Seville. Highlights for us were tours of the Plaza de Toros (Game of Thrones), Alcázar de los Reyes Cristianos once the home of Queen Isabella and King Ferdinand and horse carriage ride through the Plaza de España (Star Wars)

On our way to Cordoba we made a stop in Jaén where the adventure highlight of the trip was Paul trying to wedge the car down a narrow alleyway – which did not workWe cannot display this gallery
Next stop was the picture perfect beautiful town of Ronda with the stunning gorge. We cannot display this gallery
And our final destination – Córdoba where we stayed at a hotel directly next to the Mezquita (Mezquita-Catedral de Córdoba) – which was first a church in 600 ad, then a Mosque from 784 – 1236, and then a Catholic church from 1236 to the present day. There is nowhere else in the world where you will see a wonder quite like this.We cannot display this gallery
We have another grandchild graduating high school in a few more years and are already looking forward to another multi-generational adventure! Where are we going? Shhh…It’s a surprise!
