About the Couple

Caleigh (pronounced Callie) is the youngest of 3 children and she can’t wait to be a Barbre.  She grew up on the Oconomowoc area with her parents Craig and MaryBeth Berns and sisters McKenna and Kelsey. Caleigh went to a private school until she entered Kettle Moraine High School.  Growing up she liked to do anything outdoors, socialize with others, procrastinate on decision making, and in general annoy her parents.  She remembers seeing Charlie in the halls at school and gossiping with her friends about how he was the “hot – mysterious – out – of- our – league – guy”.

In 2013 Caleigh started Cosmetology school and Charlie started firefighting training at WCTC, so their paths would periodically cross.  Once, Charlie (in a lame attempt of flirting), chucked an ENORMOUS snowball at Caleigh and pelted her straight in the head. Who says romance is dead! The years following, we both experienced life in different cities, made different friends, had new jobs, and Charlie had a whole entire baby! (Who Caleigh loves very dearly).  Today Caleigh is back in school and in her first semester studying Nursing.

Robert Charles Barbre (aka Charlie) was born in Fort Worth, Texas and even though he moved to Wisconsin at a very young age, he is proud of being a Texan and still has family there.  Some may wonder why he goes by Charlie, well it seems it’s a family thing, his dad Robert Christopher Barbre who goes by Chris and now his son Robert Mason Barbre who goes by Mason.  Growing up Charlie liked skateboarding, hockey, spending time up north, and hanging with family.  Like Caleigh, Charlie graduated from Kettle Moraine HS and started at WCTC in firefighting.  It wasn’t a fit for him and he spent some time trying different things.  Today he works at Red Wing Shoes as the manager of the Delafield location.  He loves his job and plans to buy and own his own Red Wing location someday!

Caleigh and Charlie knew of each other a long time before they became a couple.  Caleigh often says how she wishes we would have connected sooner, but Charlie thinks they met later in life on purpose and says, “the earlier versions of ourselves were great, but we’re definitely not the same as the people we are now, we’re better and ready to be husband and wife!”

So, how did they connect you ask?  Charlie stepped up to the plate and did what guys do these days…he sent her a message on Instagram and ask to meet her at the Crafty Cow.  Caleigh said YES for the first time.  There’s a famous and cherished picture that Caleigh’s friend took of them that night, of them having their first kiss’s.  Fast forward and Charlie popped the question on the beach in Fort Myers, Florida.  The rest my friends, is history!

Today Caleigh and Charlie are a little more of what they like to call homebodies.  Together they love going out to get food, taking Mason on family outings, snowboarding during the winter, spending time at community events, or just spending time at home. They can’t wait to buy a house in the lake country area to they can be close to family and friends and soon after maybe a little addition or two to the family will be in order!  These two have wonderfully optimistic outlooks on their lives and are excited for all things to come!  They can’t wait to celebrate their wedding with YOU!

Frequently Asked Questions

What’s included in my cost?

What documents will I need?
Guest who are citizens of the US will need a valid passport to travel to Mexico.  While there is no set rule for Mexico regarding the length of validity that should be on the passport, the cautious rule of thumb is to have 6 months validity beyond the last day of your trip.  If your passport is going to need renewing within that time frame, it is recommended to renew prior to the trip.

What about vaccines and testing?
There are currently no requirements for vaccination or COVID testing to travel to Mexico.  Please keep in mind this could change at any time and it is the traveler’s responsibility to keep abreast of changing requirements.

What do I wear to a destination wedding?
Caleigh and Charlie are planning a casually elegant wedding.  Men will want to wear nice shorts or lightweight slacks and a comfortable shirt.  No ties or jackets are necessary.  Ladies might want to choose a sun dress or nice capri outfit.  For footwear, we recommend sandals.  The couple requests no tank tops or swimsuits please.

Will my cell phone work in Mexico?
This depends largely on your cellular carrier.  Most major carriers offer some type of international plan, many that can be taken as you wish rather than full week or month coverage.  Please contact your cellular provider for details regarding your service.

Will I need different money?
Dreams Jade is an all-inclusive property which means while on the resort, cash isn’t really being used.  Some guests like to take single dollar bills to tip the bar staff or the cleaning staff.  This is totally at your discretion.  If you are going off property for a tour or take a taxi anywhere you will want some small bills for tipping.  You may use US dollars, changing money to pesos is not required.

Do I need any special plugs for my electronics?
No special plugs are needed for Mexico.

Can I drink the water?
The hotels in Mexico have filtered water so it is fine to drink the tap water at the resort.  When off resort, it is wise to drink bottled water.

What is the most important thing I can do to help the couple have a stress-free destination wedding?
The most important thing you can do to alleviate stress for the couple is to book early.  They have many deadlines they must meet for wedding planning and blocked room space.  The sooner you commit, the easier it is for them to plan the event.

Booking Your Attendance

To book your room, give Sue a call at 262-538-2140.

A deposit of $250 per person is required to reserve your room.  The final payment date will be April 1st, 2023.  You may make payments of $200 or more as frequently as you would like so as not to leave the total amount due to the very end.  This means the earlier you book, the more time you have to make payments!  Of course, if you prefer you may make full payment at any time before April 1.

All guests must make their initial deposit by January 25, 2023, as the couple is required to provide early estimates to the resort and adjust blocked room space shortly thereafter.

At this time, we are not holding air as each guest may want different travel dates, different departure city etc.  If you would like Sue to book your air, she can get you a price.  Full air cost is due at the time of booking.  If you want to get your own air, that is totally fine HOWEVER, Sue will need the flight details (a copy of your reservation) so she can connect to your hotel transfers.

Travel Insurance

Travel insurance is always optional but strongly recommended.  Please discuss this with Sue when booking your cabin.  Pricing on insurance depends on 4 things:  your age, your trip cost, the state you reside in and the length of your trip.  Remember, travel insurance is not just for trip cancellation coverage, it is for coverage of many unseen things that could happen during the trip as well.  Example:  a filling falls out and you need to see a dentist, you drop your camera in the ocean, or you miss your flight home.  Travel insurance can help with all these and so many more things.
